AI and Monitoring: What Changes (and What Doesn't)
AI transforms monitoring, but not where people think. It speeds up collection and sorting; it does not replace judgment.
What AI does well
Sorting large volumes, spotting matches, summarizing, grouping: on these mechanical tasks, AI saves considerable time.
What it does not do
Deciding whether information matters for YOUR context, drawing an action from it, taking responsibility: that stays deeply human.
The black box risk
An AI that sorts without explaining creates a dangerous dependency. The right approach stays explainable: AI proposes, the human understands and arbitrates.
Complementarity
The most effective monitoring does not oppose AI and human: it combines them. AI does the mass sorting, the human brings meaning and decision.
AI is a powerful monitoring accelerator. It will never be a decision-maker.
